City Park & Fairgrounds
City Park & Fairgrounds is the largest park area in Missouri Valley, serving as a central hub for recreation, community events, and regional attractions. This expansive park is home to a wide range of amenities and hosts activities throughout the year, making it one of the most active and versatile spaces in the community.
A key feature of the park is the Harrison County Fairgrounds, which brings seasonal events, exhibits, and entertainment to Missouri Valley and draws visitors from across the region. The park is also home to the grandstands, where popular events such as demolition derbies, rodeos, and other live entertainment take place.
In addition to event spaces, the park includes the Missouri Valley Aquatic Center, the Watson Train Station attraction, and multiple rental halls and concession areas that support both large-scale events and smaller community gatherings. The Missouri Valley RV and Camping area is located along the north and west sides of the park and fairgrounds, providing convenient accommodations for visitors and event attendees.

Willow Park
Willow Park is one of Missouri Valley’s most distinctive and community-focused parks, spanning a full city block along Park Avenue and West Michigan Street. Known as a hidden gem in Harrison County, the park offers a welcoming environment for both residents and their pets, combining recreation, relaxation, and a unique sense of character.
At the center of Willow Park is the Willow Dog Park—one of the largest dog parks in the area—making it a destination for pet owners throughout the community. Adding to its uniqueness, the park features detailed wood carvings honoring cherished pets, creating a meaningful and memorable setting unlike any other in the region.
Willow Park blends activity and gathering space with a variety of amenities, including:

Summit Park is one of Missouri Valley’s most unique and scenic neighborhood parks, located along Summit Street between North 3rd Street and North 4th Street. As one of the highest elevation points in the community, the park offers a quiet, natural setting with beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere.
At the heart of Summit Park is the City’s Time Capsule, placed during the City’s Bicentennial, creating a meaningful landmark that reflects Missouri Valley’s history and future. The park is proudly supported in part by Valley Lodge No. 232 A.F. & A.M., whose contributions have helped enhance this community space.
Summit Park blends recreation and relaxation with a variety of amenities, including:

Recreation and Community Space

City Soccer Fields
The City Soccer Fields provide over six acres of open space dedicated to organized sports and recreational activities in Missouri Valley. The facility is primarily used for youth soccer programs and community athletics, serving hundreds of participants during peak seasons.
The space is available for organized use through approved leagues and organizations and includes amenities that support both players and spectators.
The City Soccer Fields include:
- Multiple open fields for soccer and recreational sports
- Public restrooms
- A concession stand for events and games
- Open space for practices and community use
During the height of the season, the fields support approximately 250 youth participants across various programs, making it an important part of the City’s recreational offerings.
Pocket Parks
Missouri Valley’s pocket parks are small, thoughtfully designed green spaces located in different areas throughout the community. Created from former FEMA-designated lots that are not suitable for development, these spaces have been transformed into peaceful areas for public enjoyment.
Each pocket park offers a quiet setting with simple landscaping, seating, and natural surroundings, providing residents with a place to relax, reflect, or take a break from daily activity.
These parks reflect the City’s commitment to making the most of available land while enhancing the community with accessible, low-impact green space.
Gathering Market
The Missouri Valley Gathering Market is an exciting community initiative led by the Missouri Valley Parks Board, designed to bring residents together through local food, crafts, and shared experiences. The Gathering Market will provide a welcoming outdoor space for families, vendors, and visitors to connect and enjoy all that the region has to offer.
The market will feature fresh produce, locally crafted goods, unique services, and a variety of food options, creating a vibrant and family-friendly atmosphere. As the program continues to develop, it is intended to enhance community engagement, support local vendors, and create new opportunities for residents to gather and celebrate Missouri Valley.
The Missouri Valley Gathering Market reflects a broader vision of strengthening community spaces, encouraging local involvement, and building a more connected and active city for both current residents and future generations.
Community Gardens
Missouri Valley is exploring the development of community gardens as part of its ongoing effort to enhance public green space and provide new opportunities for residents to connect with nature.
The proposed community gardens are intended to create peaceful, natural environments featuring native plants and vegetation. Similar in spirit to the City’s pocket parks, these spaces are envisioned as low-impact, community-focused areas that support relaxation, education, and environmental appreciation.
As plans continue to develop, the community gardens aim to provide residents with accessible spaces to enjoy nature, participate in local initiatives, and contribute to the continued growth and beautification of Missouri Valley.
