As part of a community wide effort to improve the quality of buildings throughout the City, especially housing units, the City of Missouri Valley is developing a property maintenance code enforcement program. This program aims to ensure that residents of the community have safe housing, and to provide a tool to prevent the deterioration of existing buildings. The City is working with Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) to implement the program, which is similar to programs that SWIPCO currently operates in other communities in the region. The code that is enforced is the International Property Maintenance Code, 2015. The code can be found online at or copies are available for review at City Hall and the Missouri Valley Public Library.
