Missouri Valley, IA, Youth Services Librarian
The Missouri Valley Public Library is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic full-time Youth Services Librarian. We are looking for someone who is excited about providing outstanding service to youth and their caregivers. This position will be responsible for planning and administering programs and promoting literacy to the community in a variety of ways including outreach. The individual best suited for this position must have excellent communication skills; a competence in technology; be creative, positive and promote excellent customer service. Applicants should have knowledge of current trends in library services and materials for children and young adults. This candidate must have the ability to build and maintain relationships with co-workers and library patrons. Responsibilities include: planning, implementing and marketing all youth programming; selecting, collection management for children and teens; and providing reader’s advisory services to patrons in the library.
Qualifications:
- Two to three years related experience and/or training, or associate’s degree from a two-year college.
- Acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Library cataloging experience preferred.
Compensation: The salary range for this position begins at $18 an hour, dependent upon education and experience. It is eligible for full benefits.
